Important News for all JCI Trainers

Changes on JCI Official Courses

After General Assembly approved the Strategic Planning Committee recommendations and adopted a new JCI Mission and Vision at the 2008 JCI World Congress in New Delhi, India, the JCI World Headquarters began to update and adapt all publications to reflect the new Mission and Vision. The JCI Achieve and JCI Admin courses required major changes.

“JCI University” Became “JCI Training”

As recommended by the SPC, General Assembly approved changing the name of “JCI University” to “JCI Training.” The name “JCI University” was not legally approved in the United States and, for this reason, JCI could no longer use that name. Another change was the merging of the positions of Coordinators and Commissioners into one position and reducing the term from three years to one. In 2009, there will be one JCI Training Director and four JCI Training Commissioners.

New Rules for Assistant Trainers to become Certified JCI Head Trainers

The JCI Training Commission approved two new rules at its last November meeting:

The Opening and Closing sections will become Course Modules: To avoid confusion, the opening and closing sections of all courses will become modules. So, for all JCI Official courses, the opening section will become Module 1 and what was Module 1 will become Module 2. This change will not affect Modules already recorded in the trainers’ database. The number of the Module conducted may change, but the name will not change and will be valid for applications for the status of Certified JCI Head Trainer.

Policy 4.2. Certified JCI Head Trainers

This policy was changed and now Assistant Trainers who want to become Certified JCI Head Trainers must still conduct all Modules of a course but now these modules must be conducted in at least TWO courses. In other words, if an Assistant Trainer conducts all modules of a JCI Official course in one course, it will not be enough to apply for Certified JCI Head Trainer.

Trainers for JCI Official Courses Must Be of JCI age

According to the policy approved in January 2008 by the JCI Executive Committee, all trainers for JCI official courses who are not of JCI age and are not National Graduates (NGs), International Graduates (IGs), International Training Fellows (ITFs) or JCI Senators may no longer perform as Assistant or Head Trainers for any JCI official course.

The trainers’ database will be automatically updated based on JCI’s criteria. It is important that trainers have their date of birth recorded in the database. If there is no record, the online tools will consider the trainer is not of JCI age. Please make sure your birth date appears in your database or send an e-mail to the JCI Training Administrator at training@jci.cc.

For your reference, this is the policy approved by the JCI Executive Committee and included in the JCI Training Policy Manual, also available online at http://www.jci.cc/university/en/jcitrainingpolicymanual.

Policy 8.1. Age and Affiliation to JCI

Any trainer who is not JCI Senator, National or International Graduate, or International Training Fellow must be within the JCI age limits and officially affiliated to a JCI national organization to apply for certification at levels higher that Certified National Trainer (CNT), and apply for or maintain the status of Certified JCI Head or Assistant Trainer to conduct JCI Official Courses. This rule became effective January 1, 2008, for all new certification levels and applications for Certified JCI Head or Assistant Trainers, and will become effective January 1, 2009, for all existing Certified JCI Head and Assistant Trainers.
